Work Sheet Exercise #1 – Complex Subtraction without Regrouping
The One-Minute Timing
Say to the student(s), “Now you are going to do a one-minute timing to see how many numbers you can add and subtract quickly and correctly. We will use another copy of the same exercise for the timing. Some of the problems have two columns; others have three columns. The numbers at the right side of the page tell you how many columns you have added up. You should aim to complete 50-60 columns in one minute. Put your finger on the first problem. Get ready. Please begin.”
At the end of one minute say, “Thank you. Check your answers.”
